Rhiannon JonesBritish Antarctic Survey, UKRhiannon Jones is a polar marine biogeochemist based at the British Antarctic Survey, UK. Rhiannon studies the influence of glacial meltwater and glacial sediments upon trace element and macronutrient cycling in the polar regions, using a combination of stable (Si, O) and radiogenic (Ra, Th) isotopes, and high-precision microscopy (STXM). She is particularly interested in how the rapidly changing Antarctic region will influence biogeochemical cycles in the Southern Ocean, and the importance of (nano)particulate material as a source of potentially bioavailable nutrients (e.g. Fe, Mn, Si). |
