Taryn Noble

Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, University of Tasmania, Australia

Taryn Noble is a paleoceanographer and marine geochemist at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies, University of Tasmania, and the current GEOTRACES SSC representative for Australia and New Zealand. She received her PhD at the University of Cambridge in 2012, using neodymium isotopes to reconstruct Southern Ocean circulation well before the datasets from the GEOTRACES program were available.

She is interested in applying multiple isotope systems to quantify the flux and source of lithogenic inputs to the Southern Ocean for modern-day and past climate reconstructions; improving our understanding of geochemical proxies at the Antarctic margin; and how the vulnerable sectors of the East Antarctic Ice Sheet changed during warmer-than-preindustrial climate states.

Taryn has spent many months organising and participating in Australian-led voyages focused on understanding geochemical processes at the ice-ocean boundary.
