Ryan Cloete

Ryan is a trace metal biogeochemist who completed his PhD in 2021 at Stellenbosch University. Since then, he has completed 2 postdoctoral fellowships, including one at LEMAR, France. His work focuses predominantly on seasonal trace metal cycling and the impact of mesoscale features like eddies on sourcing and redistributing nutrients. He has been on 7 research expeditions, 6 of them being GEOTRACES affiliated process studies, including to the Southern, Indian, and North Atlantic oceans. Ryan attended the first GEOTRACES summer school in 2017 and has presented at numerous GEOTRACES sessions at international conferences. Ryan is currently a member of the GEOTRACES early career researcher committee.
